Bad Ash’s Homecoming Show! with very special guests The Murder, The Beantown Boozehounds and Superpower!

This whole show was off the hook. Going against one of our ground rules, we opened up the show. There was a pretty big crowd already, which is ridiculous, especially for a Monday night.

We played pretty well, even given the fact that Jeremy’s bass drum head broke halfway through our set. We persevered (with slightly less low end) and ended up gaining a whole bunch of new fans.

Our set was followed by The Boozehounds, and they were off the hook as well. It was also nice to see Rob when he wasn’t doing a drunken half cartwheel, half fall off of the stage, like he did at The Shitfits show in Lowell. Of course, when I questioned him about it he didn’t remember it at all. Also, for someone who claims to have no idea what he’s doing, Chad plays a mean fucking mandolin!

After the hounds finished up Dave Tree’s (of TREE fame, duh) new project, Superpower went on. Before they played he had told me he really enjoyed The Murder’s set, which meant alot to me.

Finally, hometown heroes Bad Ash took the stage. Fresh off a month long tour down the East Coast to Florida and back, they were in perfect form. Needless to say, everyone went nuts, and chaos ensued. When Nick jumped up onto the newly built counter and snapped off a side of it, I was convinced that our pay for the night had just disappeared, but low and behold, there was still money to be had at the end of the night.

Also, our friend Tammy and Justin’s cousin hooked up for the first time, sneaking off behind Stingray for some makeout time. It was pretty funny, but not as funny as when Tammy asked what his name was on the drive home.

Roach McKrackin w/ Crayon Set List

This show was pretty cool, and I’d been looking forward to it for a while.

First off, it was the night after Halloween, and I’d spent the day buying waaaaay too many props and the like at all the Spirit Halloween outlets for less than half the original price, so that was great.

Secondly, Pawtucket RI is the city right next door to Attleboro MA where I grew up, so of course my family came out to see the band, so that was tight. It was also a bit strange, as i saw people there that I hadn’t seen since high school. Apparently The Blackstone is the local hangout now.

On the way to the show, after Halloween shopping we stopped at Papa Gino’s for a bite to eat, at which point I realized that I’d forgotten the set list (as usual). We then proceeded to take menus and crayons and write up a set on the spot. Remember, we’re the epitome of professional.

Anyway, the original lineup was supposed to be Clarks Falls, then us, with For What It’s Worth headlining. However, due to circumstances beyond our control, FWIW couldn’t stay that late, cause they get up early for work.

It took a while for the action to start, cause I’m pretty sure most if not all of the employees, not least of all the sound lady, were on some sort of substance. Of course, temptation be damned, I neglected to ask them about this.

The Murder @ The Blackstone

So we step up, since it was getting to be past my mom’s bedtime anyway, and take the stage. Our set was shitloads of fun, due largely in part to it being the first time I broke out the wireless rig. Things were great until we got to the solo in “Riot Squad” (A cover of the Cock Sparrer song). I took a flying leap offstage and *BOOM* the cord falls out of the jack and my guitar goes dead… I’m an ass. Besides that I had lots of fun and lots of drinks.

Next up was For What It’s Worth. I guess Jen used to work at The Blackstone so she seemed like she was having a good time playing for her old coworkers.

After FWIW finished, Clarks Falls went on. After waiting around at the bar for a good 3 hours or so they were in rare form. They played a really good set (once they were able to track down their bass player). I will say I was a bit disappointed when the management shut them down before they could play “Jack Bauer“, which they swore to me they’d do, as a condition for their playing the show.

Memorable moments being when I slapped Pez right across the face, threw a bunch of our crow props at him, and did a power slide on the floor right in front of the stage, once again proving to myself that I am inded growing old, as I had a burn mark on my knee for a good 2 weeks afterwards.

Either way, CF are definitely troopers, since a couple of them had to work even earlier than FWIW, and we didn’t get out of there till well past 2am.
